Explosive Diapers and Meditation

This email is gonna be raw and dirty. (just like my daughters diaper this morning)

Last night I had a friend and soon-to-be client tell me he was stuck in negativity.

He was asking how he can stop the negative thoughts.

He’s in tech-sales and wants to create something of his own.

He wants freedom but hasn’t figured out how…

Much like the Poo-splosion diaper I changed this morning… here’s the answer:

What you focus on expands.

It’s the same reason that people ‘stuck’ in victim mentality are continuously victims.

Or why my mother (who worries about airplane delays) often experiences airplane delays.

We CREATE our reality.

We do this with our focus and intentions. (aka thoughts, words, actions)

And it works whether we believe it does or not.

You see… You can’t “Run Away” from a shitty situation (or diaper).

You can’t “Run Away” from a scarcity mindset.

You must move towards an abundance mindset.

You must BECOME THAT GUY.

The friend mentioned above is violating 2 critical reality creation principles.
1. He’s focusing on what he doesn’t want (thus expanding it)

2. He’s waiting for a result (more money) before taking action (investing in his freedom) to get the result.

He’s operating in the “I’ll believe it when I see it” mindset.

But he needs to shift to the “I’ll Believe it, THEN I’ll see it.”

This means we need to grab life by the horns (or diaper) and act like a successful person BEFORE we experience success.

Success will naturally follow, but if we wait to do something until we ARE successful… we’re going to wait a loooong time.

You must use your Thoughts, Words, and Actions to create the reality you desire.

Some call it “Acting As If”. And it works very well.

Saying “My airplane always get’s delayed…” or “who knows how long we’ll get delayed this time…” will inevitably give you that experience.

Instead… you need to shift to what you want.

My wife and I continuously say "Everything works out for us”

We say: “We’re so lucky.”

Or “Things always work out perfectly for us…”

And guess what?

They do!

And if they don’t…

We create a positive meaning.

Which brings me to the next point…

You can make any random event mean ANYTHING you want!

So when my daughter creates a messy diaper dripping with poo… then puts her foot in it and spreads it around while I’m changing her…

I can CHOOSE how to react.

I can be grateful I have a daughter.

I can think: What a miracle my daughter is healthy and her bodily functions (including the poop factory) are working so well.

Heck I can even use it as an eyes-open meditation.

And look- I’m not saying changing a diaper is necessarily fun… what I’m saying is that it doesn’t have to suck and be a negative experience.

What I’m saying is that I get to decide how I feel about it.

As I learned from the great Tej Dosa (Click here for our recent podcast)

“Nothing is good or bad, it’s all an experience”

So I can take this experience… and label it as JOY.

I can experience the LOVE of taking care of a 6 week old baby who is completely dependent on me (and my wife).

I can experience the curiosity of this new adventure.

I can make it a meditative experience!

“What we resist persists” - I think that might be a Carl Jung quote (not sure, remember, this email is raw and dirty like the diaper I changed this morning)

SO STOP RESISITING…

You’ll just create MORE of what you don’t want.

With Love,
Jeff

P.S. My favorite question to ask when a “Bad” situation happens: “How is this good for me”

GM- I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately and I wanted to share something with you. The quality of your life comes down to one thing most people never think about: the quality of your questions. Not your goals. Not your habits. Your questions. The ones you ask yourself all day, on repeat, most of them without even realizing it. Here’s a quick thought experiment. You want something: A new house, a business, whatever. And your first thought is: “I can’t afford that.” That’s a statement....

Dear friend, It’s been a minute since I’ve sent emails… hope you’re doing well. Yesterday I introduced this image: Today… we’re going a level deeper. Before you can change your Actions… you need to examine your Beliefs and your Identity. Here’s an example Identity Ladder for someone who identifies as an employee: Identity -> “I’m an employee” Values -> Security and a consistent paycheck Beliefs -> “I have to go to work so I don’t get fired.” Actions -> You’re at work on time… even after 3...

The reason you are ANYTHING is because of the way you act.For example:The reason you’re fit is because you act fit. The reason you’re fat is because you act fat.You can apply this to any other identity. The reason you are ______ is because you act that way. The reason you are successful is because you act successful. The reason you are unsuccessful is because you act unsuccessful. And not that ‘fake it til you make it’ acting... I mean your ACTIONS.In fitness, it’s obvious… to lose weight,...
